NEWS

A search began after a young boy fell from the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. The child, believed to be from overseas, got separated from his family while on holiday.

A Coast Guard helicopter spotted what might be a body in the water, but large waves made the area unreachable. The search paused overnight and resumed the next day.

Multiple agencies joined the effort, including Coast Guard units, lifeboats, and drone teams. Despite thorough searches of the shoreline and from the air, nobody was found. Poor weather conditions forced rescuers to return to shore. The search will continue when conditions improve.

A Cork woman, Miriam Santry (55), has been banned from keeping animals for life after pleading guilty to animal welfare offenses.

The ISPCA found 16 dogs in poor conditions at two properties in Kinsale and Belgooly. The animals lacked food and water, with eight dogs crammed into a crate meant for two.

Inspector Caroline Faherty described the properties as dark and unsanitary, with urine and feces everywhere. The investigation began in September 2022, leading to search warrants executed in December.

Santry was ordered to surrender all animals to the ISPCA and fined €250. Judge Philip O'Leary also ordered the forfeiture of the seized dogs to the ISPCA.
