🗓️ NEWS 🗓️

Garda John Francis Ryan is set for trial after a crash in Dublin that killed three men. The crash occurred on July 7, 2021, when Dean Maguire, Karl Freeman, and Graham Taylor, fleeing Gardaí and driving on the wrong side of the N7 road, collided head-on with a lorry, causing their BMW to burst into flames.

Garda Ryan is accused of driving recklessly on the wrong side of the road, endangering life. Judge Michele Finan has now ordered a trial in the Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on July 18. The court has also restricted media from publishing Garda Ryan's address. A coroner's inquest into the deaths will resume after the trial.

A bomb threat was made against Taoiseach Simon Harris's home in Wicklow, where his wife and children were present. Someone called the Samaritans helpline claiming a bomb was planted at his house, providing a code word. Gardaí searched the home but found no device, and the family did not need to evacuate. The incident is considered a hoax, but security concerns remain high. This is the third such incident at their home in 11 weeks.

As Dublin prepares for Taylor Swift's arrival, various pop-up events are happening across the city, including friendship bracelet workshops and singalongs. Fans with tickets for her Aviva Stadium concerts are especially excited, but even those without tickets are enjoying the themed activities. At a Taylor Swift-themed pottery class, participants decorated pottery with song lyrics while her music played. Ciara Fulham from Dublin Pottery Painting noted the high demand, stating, "Many missed out on concert tickets but still wanted to participate." Cities worldwide, like Glendale and Nashville, have made grand gestures to welcome Swift, raising the question if Dublin has done enough.
