It’s Tuesday

☀ High 21C and Low 9C. Rain ☀

Yes, there will be rain today - like there was last night. Winter is coming, folks.

Did you know that each month, we send a customised letter to your house that includes a fun history lesson about a place in Ireland? subscribe here.

Designed for kids, each letter is addressed to their name and delivered via post.

Here’s a sample:

WHAT TO DO THIS WEEK

Enjoy a journey of discovery as you learn more about plants, meander through winding lanes and discover secret gardens.

On this guided walking tour, expect to see rare and beautiful plants and exotic butterflies in Ireland’s only Butterfly House, not forgetting The Cambridge House a Greenhouse that plays an integral role for Lord Milo’s horticultural studies.

The Pond, which is the most meditative part of the walled garden is also home to spectacularly colourful botanical flowers from places like South America.

You will see the Rose Garden which was Isobel Talbots favourite garden, old varieties of roses, magnolias and lilies and a riot of colour when in bloom. The Dutch House and The Peach House – the oldest greenhouses in the garden holding rare plants – the former housing Mediterranean plants like pink peony and the later given over to Australasian shrubs.

It is not free, unfortunately. 16eur/person. But it is a great place to spend a day. Tickets sell like crazy as they have limited slots. You can directly book from Malahide Castle’s website.
