A Warm Weekend Is Ahead of Us

It’s Thursday

☀ High 23C and Low 15C. No Rain ☀ Enjoy the Sun

Yes, you read that right. It will be 23C today, the hottest day of this year (yet). If you thought yesterday was warm, today will “shock you”.

I got a few emails yesterday about the Alpaca tour. I have now contacted K2Alpaca for a sponsorship and hopefully a discount deal.

More updates on this next week.

3 THINGS To Do This Week

The way I see it, you have two options.

  1. Castle

  2. Beaches

It will be sunny today, tomorrow, and over the bank holiday weekend. So unless you are going out of Ireland, I would recommend doing something outdoors.

Here are some of my top picks:

The Jeanie Johnston and EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum

Look for two tall ship masts in the Docklands to find the Jeanie Johnston. This ship shows what life was like for people escaping the Great Famine. Interestingly, no one ever died on this ship.

Next door is the CHQ Building. Here you'll find EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum. It tells stories about Irish people who left their country. You can use touch screens to learn how these emigrants became famous in different jobs around the world.

You can buy tickets that let you visit both places in one day. This makes for a fun and educational outing.

Dublin Castle

Dublin Castle has a long history. It started as a Viking settlement, then became a Norman fortress, and later a Georgian palace where the government ruled. In 1922, it was given to the new Irish state.

You can visit the castle grounds for free. Start in the main Dubh Linn Garden, which has a sea serpent design on the grass. There are also small gardens in each corner with sculptures to explore.

For a deeper look at the castle's history, take a guided tour. This includes seeing the State Apartments, where Irish presidents are sworn in. You'll also see either the old underground area or the fancy Chapel Royal from the 1800s.

Bring a picnic lunch and make a day out of it.

Dublin Zoo

A tour to the phoenix park and then to the zoo will make a perfect weekend outing for you.

If you don’t have one, order a kite. I like this one on Amazon - I tried flying it last week in Phoenix park and it did well.

The Zoo has a new Asian lion now (photo above) - and though some of the elephants passed away recently, there’s a lot to explore.

NEWS OF THE DAY

  • An Operator of Dodgy box service (one of those tv tools that you use to watch all channels) was jailed for 16 months. Read here.

  • Conor McGregor is disqualified from driving for 2 years after his driving offense. Read here.

  • Daniel Wiffen wins gold for Ireland. Yay.

Have a fun weekend ahead.

The next email will be on Tuesday. I am skipping this Friday as I won’t be in Ireland (traveling to London with my mum for the long weekend)

What is your weekend plan? Do let me know.

Thanks, Khalid.
